Auditions for Our Fall Show

By July 28, 2024 July 30th, 2024 Mainstage

July 30, 2024: We are pleased to announce audition dates and times for our fall show, The Man Who Came to Dinner, by  Kaufman and Hart.

The Man Who Came to Dinner, by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, is a classic comedy of the American Theater. We will be staging it as a “live radio show” set in 1939. Actors may carry scripts.

Audition dates: Friday, August 9th at 6 pm and Saturday, August 10th at 1 pm. We do not assign audition times, and prefer to read everyone several times. Auditions will be cold readings from the script, though if you have a monologue you’d like to perform, please bring it. Resumes and headshots are not required. You need only attend one audition session. Callbacks may be scheduled if necessary.

Show Dates: The show will open on October 25th, 2024, and runs through November 10th. We perform Friday evenings at 7 pm, and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 pm. We will begin rehearsing the last week of August. Most roles will need to rehearse only a few times a week until October. But! You must be available for all run-throughs and rehearsals beginning October 7th.

Audition location: Please come to Westview Church, 671o Arapahoe (the corner of Arapahoe & Westview Blvd) in Boulder.

The Play:  Sheridan Whiteside, a famously cranky but beloved radio celebrity, slips on the ice after attending dinner at an Ohio home. Forced to recuperate in place with a broken hip, he proceeds to turn that home upside down with the unbridled glee of an egomaniac. The Man Who Came to Dinner is a brilliantly witty comedy. It’s filled with fascinating characters, romantic intrigue, penguins, movie stars, and insults galore.
