September 16, 2019: Rhythm is intrinsic to all of us. For September’s VIVA at the Library, Elizabeth Gariti of Songs, Stories & Chants leads the audience in drumming chants from different traditions. We will be tapping into African, Native American, and Polynesian beats. At the end, the group will create its own chant using words, drums, sticks, mouths, hands, and knees to find the beat that lies within. If you have a favorite drum or other rhythm-maker, please feel free to bring it with you.
Songs, Stories & Chants is a monthly event led by Elizabeth Gariti at the Boulder Psychic Institute to help people connect with themselves through words, chants, and song.
Elizabeth is a VIVA Board Member and has been involved with VIVA productions as a producer and performer since 2017. She has a diverse performing arts background as an arts administrator, actor, dancer, and singer. She is also a writer, web designer and an ordained minister with the Church of the Divine Light in Boulder, CO.
